I expect that we will be seeing a lot of other prenatal vitamins containing all of these ingredients fairly soon.

Overall Rating of Trimedisyn

Overall Trimedisyn is the top prenatal vitamin of 2010. No other product contains the ingredients that Trimedisyn contains and the ones that come close are very expensive prescription prenatal vitamins. As far as problems with Trimedisyn I could only think of a couple, first it is not a prescription and so it does not have the same regulations. Some people may find this as a disadvantage but I don’t think it should be a determining factor when buying a prenatal vitamin. For some people this may be an advantage because not all people have insurance that help cover the cost of insurance. As for side effects there should be very little. This product does not contain any hydrogenated oils, dye’s, or artificial flavors that some mothers may react to. You should expect to see the same side effects that you see in most other prenatal vitamins such as upset stomach. In all, look over what is found in Trimedisyn and then look at the research that has shown how helpful each of these ingredients are for you and your baby and you’ll see why I rate this product as the best.

You should look for a Prenatal Vitamin that contains at least 750mg of calcium . If your prenatal vitamin does not contain 750mg of calcium you may want to buy a separate calcium supplement.

The ingredients that I would have liked to have seen in Gesticare DHA are Inositol, Probiotics, Ginger, and CoQ10. These ingredients help cover things from morning sickness to brain development. The reason many of these ingredients are not found in very many Prenatal Vitamin supplements is due to how new the research is that has shown their effectiveness.

Overall Rating of Gesticare DHA

Gesticare overall is not all that bad of a prenatal vitamin. I would have liked to see a few more ingredients in this product and that is why it is not one of the top prenatal vitamins on my list. As far as side effects from Gesticare they should be similar to most other prenatal vitamins such as nausea and upset stomach. Some of the newer High quality vitamins help with this.

The problem with the Calcium and the Vitamin B6 is that the percentages contained in this supplement are insufficient. I would look for products that contain 750mg of Calcium and 25-50mg of Vitamin B6.

Stuart Prenatal Vitamin is missing a number of key ingredients that you would find in a top notch prenatal vitamin. Ingredients that I would have like to have seen included in this product are DHA, Choline, Ginger, Probiotics, and Inositol. All of these ingredients can help significantly during a pregnancy. Stuart Prenatal also comes in Tablet form which makes it harder to absorb the vitamins and minerals into your body.

Stuart is missing out on a number of important ingredients in its prenatal supplement and for that I would rate it in I the lower than average category. Stuart Prenatal is also in tablet form which I do not like because of absorption issues. Overall I would recommend doing some more research before buying Stuart Prenatal. A product that contains all of the new key ingredients is what you should look for.

One thing that I like about New Chapters prenatal vitamin is that it contains Probiotics. Probiotics have shown to increase fertility and lower the rate of spontaneous miscarriage in the first trimester. Probiotics have also been proven to reduce the incidence of eczema in early childhood by 50%. One of the most important ingredients found in New Chapters Prenatal Vitamin is Folate  and it contains 800mcg of it which is good. Vitamin B6 is another essential vitamin found in New Chapter but it is only at 2mg which is an insignificant amount, 25-50mg would be good. Calcium is also found in this supplement but it contains 30mg when it should really contain at least 750mg.

Essential Ingredients Missing In New Chapters Prenatal Vitamin

New Chapters Organic Perfect Prenatal Vitamin I would say is far from perfect. Don’t get me wrong I know there are a lot of good things found in this product but it definitely is not perfect. New Chapters Prenatal Vitamin is also missing ginger, in which I was surprised because it contains just about everything else. I also did not see Choline or Insitol in this product. DHA is also an essential vitamin that is not found in New Chapters Perfect Prenatal Vitamin. Also, as mentioned above many of the essential vitamins found in New Chapters Perfect Prenatal Vitamin are not at the needed amounts.

This product is rated at the lower end of my list of prenatal vitamins. This prenatal supplement is missing several important ingredients needed during pregnancy. New Chapters Perfect Prenatal Vitamin also comes in tablet form which is hard to swallow and does not absorb as well in the stomach when compared to other forms. There are some good things found in this product but not enough for me to recommend this product.

Prenate DHA contains most of the necessary vitamins needed during pregnancy and it also comes in a softgel which is good, but it is missing out on some essential vitamins minerals and probiotics. Overall I would rate Prenate DHA as slightly above average because it contains DHA and many other important ingredients, but it still could do better.

For the Calcium levels I feel Prenate Elite is way low on that, it should be at least (750mg).

The amounts for each of the ingredients are also good. Calcium has 1000mg which is good, Folic Acid 1000mcg, and 20mg of Vitamin B6. There could be a little more Vitamin B6 but 20mg is not that bad.

If I was to make my own Prenatal Vitamin I would not have so many ingredients. The amount of different ingredients are a little much. Many of the ingredients are not all that necessary for pregnant women. Products with such a large amount of unnecessary ingredients can cause problems such as nausea or unwanted reactions.

 Nature Made sells many over the counter supplements, that are available at most grocery stores. Nature Made has always made a prenatal vitamin, but has recently improved their old formulation. However, it seems to me, that not all the changes were improvements.

I am very disappointed that this prenatal contains synthetic food dyes. Nature Made Prenatal Multi + DHA contains Red 40, Yellow 6, and Blue 1. These dyes are completely unnecessary and should be avoided by pregnant women.

The ingredients in this supplement meet recommend standards for a prenatal vitamin, but that’s about it. Nature Made Prenatal Multi + DHA does not go above and beyond the bare minimum to offer advanced ingredients such as; CoQ10, probiotics, and ginger.

I do like that Nature Made Prenatal has been improved, it now comes in a gel cap and they have added DHA.

I just can’t get passed the artificial dyes in this prenatal vitamin to recommend it. There are much better prenatal vitamins available that don’t contain these unnatural dyes. Don’t get me wrong, taking Nature Made Prenatal Multi + DHA is certainly better that not taking anything, but its definitely not the best prenatal for your baby.
