Is Promise Prenatal safe?
Promise Prenatal does not contain anything inherently dangerous. As always however, you should follow the directions on the bottle and check with a medical professional before beginning to take this prenatal vitamin.
What ingredients are found in Promise Prenatal?
This is a tricky question to answer since Promise Prenatal is really three different prenatal vitamins. This product is designed to be taken in three different phases. In other words, there is one vitamin for the first trimester, a slightly different vitamin for the second and third trimesters, and one more for after delivery and during lactation.
The first stage contains vitamins C, D, E, thiamine, vitamin B6, folic acid, vitamin B12, biotin, pantothenic acid, calcium, iron, iodine, magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, chromium, and molybdenum.
The second phase includes vitamin A, riboflavin, and niacin, but excludes chromium and molybdenum.
The third phase contains the same ingredients as the second phase but, in some cases, in different quantities.
What key ingredients are missing in Promise Prenatal?
Despite the specialty nature of Promise Prenatal’s phasic prenatal vitamin, the overall value of this product suffers greatly by the lack of probiotics, CoQ10, inositol, choline, DHA, and ginger root. These ingredients, some of them newly researched, are the real face of the future in the world of prenatal vitamins. In my opinion, it’s bordering on irresponsible to make a prenatal vitamin without any of these key ingredients.
How much is Promise Prenatal?
Prices may vary, but according to its own website, a one month supply will set you back $24.80, while a nine month supply will cost $124.
Overall rating of Promise Prenatal
Personally, I’m not terribly impressed by anything that Promise Prenatal has to offer me. On a positive note, I appreciate that this prenatal is a once-a-day capsule, the easiest (and my favorite) way to take a vitamin. However, this vitamin lacks some key ingredients that prevent me from giving it a rating higher than average.
